Expanding Home for an Expanding Family
Project Scope
Action Builders completed a thoughtful second-story addition for this Pittsburgh family, who needed more bedroom space as they prepared to welcome a new baby. Rather than move from the home that had been in their family for years, located in a neighborhood they love with a great school district, they chose to expand and invest in the space they already cherished.

Living Through Construction
The project took approximately four months of active construction, and the homeowners lived in the house throughout the entire process. While there was some temporary disruption upstairs, we carefully phased the work so their existing primary bedroom remained untouched until they were ready to move into the new addition. We also relocated the laundry to a convenient upstairs hall closet, an intentional upgrade that makes everyday life easier with young children.
Building Up to Create a Private Suite
The home already featured a rear family room addition, and we built directly above it to create a spacious new bedroom suite complete with a walk-in closet and a full bathroom. The bathroom was designed as a modern wet room, featuring a tub and shower within the same waterproofed space for both style and functionality. To create a cohesive exterior, we rebuilt the existing deck and installed all-new siding across the entire rear of the home for a seamless, unified look.
