2nd Level Addition – Roof, Siding, and Windows

An Allison Park couple was fortunate to own a home on a beautiful wooded, private property. But the façade was dated, and the one-story ranch-style home was cramped and no longer afforded their family the needed space. The couple knew they wanted a second-story addition and an extensive exterior renovation to transform their home into a more modern abode.

They found Action Builders via an internet search and were confident in our design and project management capabilities. We started the project with a virtual walk-through of their home in April 2020, as COVID-19 had just taken hold, preventing an in-person visit.

Modern 2nd-Level Home Addition Complements the Wooded Setting

The Action Builders team kept in touch with the couple over the coming months and helped them obtain a survey and financing. We used our patient, collaborative approach to creating designs and estimates. Following many COVID-related delays, construction began in late 2021.

The final two-story addition includes well-thought-out details such as a wooden staircase, metal railings, a second-story balcony overlooking a ravine on the property, and a composite deck. A sitting room and library between the master suite separate the two spaces.

Finishing touches included modern lighting, a custom tile shower, glass doors, and wood floors in the master suite. We also overhauled the exterior with a new roof, siding, and windows and completed all necessary HVAC, electrical, and plumbing upgrades. We used a dark neutral color scheme on the exterior and light neutrals inside, which are a great match for the wooded setting. We added a structural beam and replaced rotting soffits as well, to prevent further deterioration.

Attentive, Conscientious Design-Build Process Yields a Fabulous Addition

The couple loves their addition and especially enjoys the view of their wooded property from their new balcony.

The Action Builders team was “very attentive and conscientious,” they said. “They were polite and cleaned up the site often, which was appreciated. They also did great work! The designer was great throughout the project. Her patience and willingness to help us create a design that we wanted was the single biggest factor in our signing the contract.”

At Action Builders, we use a proven process, with communication as the cornerstone, that ensures you know what to expect every step of the way. We’d love to hear your ideas! Contact us to schedule a consultation.
